Yaoji

Open a new tab, see today's to-dos

Brings the to-dos in your Obsidian daily notes into Chrome's new tab. Check them off, add, or reorder, and the note is updated.

Add to Chrome

Your journal lives in Obsidian. Your day lives in the browser.

You write to-dos in your daily note, then spend the day in Chrome. Too often you only remember them when you open the journal at night.

What it does

Two-way sync with your Obsidian journal

Your to-dos stay in your daily notes; Yaoji just brings them into the browser. Edits count on either side, and your notes remain plain Markdown files.

Write it down beside any page

No need to leave what you're reading. Open the side panel any time to add or check off.

Focus, and see your year

A Pomodoro timer lives on the new tab. Every focus round is counted, and the record survives a new computer or a cleared cache.

Small things on the new tab

The second a new tab opens you see more than a list: the weather, a line about your goal, and sticky notes right where you left them.

A few calm photos a day

The background follows the time of day: morning mist, afternoon light, rain at night. Photos change while you're not looking, so nothing flashes when a tab opens.

Your data stays yours

To-dos and notes sync only between your computer and your Obsidian. They never pass through Xiaoxiaodong's servers.

Is it for you?

Get started

  1. Add to Chrome Install it from the Chrome Web Store and open a new tab.
  2. Sign in with your Xiaoxiaodong account The same account as the prompt library. New accounts get a 7-day full trial.
  3. Connect Obsidian (whenever you like) Install the Local REST API plugin in Obsidian and paste its API key into Yaoji's settings.

Questions

Do I need Obsidian?

No. Without Obsidian, to-dos are kept in a local library in your browser and carry over when you connect later.

How do I connect Obsidian?

With Obsidian open, install and enable the Local REST API community plugin, copy its API key, paste it under Connection in Yaoji's settings, and click Detect.

Is my journal uploaded anywhere?

No. Yaoji talks to Obsidian on your own computer; to-dos and notes never pass through Xiaoxiaodong's servers. Your account only confirms membership, and the Google Drive backup holds settings and stats, not your notes.

Will things I add while Obsidian is closed get lost?

No. They're kept in the browser on this computer and written to your journal the next time Obsidian opens; a ZIP backup also goes to your Downloads folder when things change.

Which browsers does it work in?

Chrome on a computer. Edge and other Chromium browsers can usually install it from the Chrome Web Store too. It doesn't run on phones.

What happens when membership ends?

Everything keeps working; new to-dos go back to 10 a day, and member features such as weather and quick notes pause.

How do I move to a new computer?

Download a full backup in settings, install Yaoji on the new computer, and choose Restore from backup. Members can also restore settings from Google Drive.
